b-Lab Diary of a confinement: Joaquim Brugués
Jun 15, 2020
In these days of confinement, work in the lab has not stopped! We are having talks by videoconference, both by members of the lab and by guests.
If a talk interests you and you wish to listen to attend, or if you have a proposal for these talks, please contact the organizer: eva.miranda@upc.edu.

The Euler class of b-tangent bundles
Speaker: Joaquim Brugués
When: Friday 26th of June, at 17:00 - 18:00.
Abstract: The Euler class is a basic tool to understand the topology of orientable vector bundles, in particular it aims to measure how "twisted" any given bundle is. In the particular case of the tangent bundle to a manifold, the Poincaré-Hopf theorem relates this construction to the topology of the base manifold, yielding an index theorem.
In this talk we will review the definition of the Euler class and study a possible analogous to the Poincaré-Hopf theorem to b-tangent bundles.
